“There is absolutely a need for this course. I had not previously considered what I would lose in the sense of wellbeing once I stopped playing sport so this has helped bring that into focus and provide tools and strategies to maintain positivity and strengthen relationships.”
— Nick Haig, NZ Olympian, former captain Black Sticks men’s hockey team.
“It was awesome, not once did I feel like checking my phone for time or feel like it was boring. I was in my flow state and really got a lot out of it. Food was awesome, venue was good and the people on the course were all in a similar path.”
– Jacob Ellison, former Māori All Black and Hurricanes player.
“I can't speak more highly about having these skills and being able to implement these in everyday life. It makes life just easier.”
– Bradley Shaw, NZ Olympian, former Black Sticks men’s hockey team.
Life After Rugby - Ged Robinson
Listen to Ged Robinson talk about life after rugby and how PERMA can help (it's the framework for the course).
After retiring from rugby, Ged set up a pizza business (delicious but ultimately unfulfilling), then discovered his purpose, gaining a Diploma in Positive Psychology and co-founding BetterMan. He applies his skills and experience learnt as a former player for the Hurricanes, Rebels and Crusaders to help others on their journey to being better versions of themselves.
See Ged demonstrate a unique example of neuroplasticity in this video about growth mindset.
